Too Much Fun

My sister in law Jaime and I had planned on taking a cake decorating class. The classes keep being filled when we check to sign up so we decided it can't be that hard and we would give it a shot. I have logged over 50 hours watching ace of cakes so I thought we could at least try one. We started with baked cakes at 10 in the morning. We didn't finish until 4 in the afternoon so we definitely aren't fast but we had a blast doing it. I have to say we were happy with the end result. It was for her daughter Taylor's birthday and she was thrilled so that made it even more enjoyable. I figure I have until June for Courtney's wedding and by then I will know if it is something we can conquer or not.

You know I used to do wedding cakes!!! I have tons of stuff you can use. . .pans, pillars, plates, sticks for layering, fountain you name it! If you twist my arm I can help you too. The secret to cutting your time down. . .you bake your cakes a couple days in advance freeze them Make you frosting a different day and then save a day for decorating. Well okay there are actually lots of little tips. So seriously if you need anything let me know. That is an awesome first cake!

I am an Ace of Cakes junkie too (so is Rob)! I have attemted to sign-up at Michaels for classes a million times. It is just hard to ever find a night to devote to that (not my season for myself..blah...) I pretend I'm good though and I would love to go work at Charm City for a week--they'd want to keep me! I'm just as weird as them!

Your cake is so darn cute.
I love those cake contests where at the end of their hard work they have to move that 100 lb cake to the display table. I often hold my breath when they do that...

It is beautiful! I have always wanted to decorate cakes! I really think you can do it! Can you sign me up for this class too? Maybe we will just have to move to Cali. Except if prop. 8 falls through I don't want to live there.
