Teacher's Backlash to CTA

Marc spoke with his union rep. regarding the CTA donation and fuond out he can make a statement by requesting the portion of his dues that are used for political purposes to be refunded. My friend Natalie also called me this morning and told me of some of her family members who work in the education field and gave me a website that speaks to the issue. I don't advocate pulling your kids out of school however, as this really only hurts the local school and cuts their funding. It wouldn't impact the CTA but I do feel writing letters to the editor and also to the CTA is a wonderful way to let our voices be heard on this nasty little mistake.

This isn't a nasty little mistake - it's a HUGE in your face mistake and the CTA knew all along what they were doing, SHAME ON THEM! I hope this spurs a big backlash and people stand up for what is right!!

Not only did they spend 1.3 million to fight prop 8, but they spent 450k MORE just recently to fight prop 4, Sarah's law for parental notification. Teachers in our area are just livid. I'm glad you were able to take action.

This fight for marriage is such a big issue. It really flushes out the true colors of some of these organizations and makes it clear just how big this battle is, and how strong our enemy is. Every generation has it’s battles. My grandpa’s generation fought the world wars. Our grandfathers before them fought a hundred wars for freedom. In every country, on every continent, the human soul hungers for freedom and pays a price to obtain it. Sometimes the price is goods and means, sacrifice, sweat and tears. Sometimes the price is blood, and it’s paid. This fight is the fight of our generation. It will affect more than our state, it will affect our entire nation for generations to come.

the best part of this experience has been where i've realized that we really can help our society be better. whether or not prop 8 passes-- we all need to work together to make families stronger. all families.
