Door-knocking #2
Missionary Picture
Well, I am just feeling a little overwhenlmed today. Jordan just finished his mission papers and (he wants to take a new picture for his submission) then it will be off to the brethren. I can't figure it out but this is really an adjustment to know that my son will be on his own for two years. I know the Lord will be by his side but the control freak in me knows that the Lord doesn't check in with mothers, nor does he consult them for input while their sons are serving. I am very proud of him and his example to his younger brothers and cousins. I feel very blessed to be the mother of all of my children. I just never knew how overwhelming this undertaking of motherhood would be. I am amazed and amused everyday by my children.
Today was an Eagle Project day. The scouts in the mighty 5th collected donations for the Homeless Shelter. I had some laughs at the unique food that was donated. Kosher mix for potato pancakes will be a crowd pleaser for sure at the Shelter. The bran flakes that were stepped on along the way will probably be disposed of but then I thought they might be a great crumb topping for the - black lentils? I must be a very boring white bread cook because many of the donated items were food goods that have never seen a spot in my grocery basket. Mason and Marc were at a swim meet and missed out on the fun, but Mason will have to organize the food for donation.
We are loving Bakersfield and love living here with our great friends and family. We do miss our family who have chosen other places to live and hope that a trip to the homeland will be part of your plans for the 08 year.

Thanks for the update. I know, how about a trip for your family to a place you have never been. Like maybe Memphis.
I agree with Amy. How about a trip to New Jersey! Matthew seems to be the only one that likes to visit us. I know I J K L & Cameron would like a visit. Looks like you all had a great time. We are looking forward to our overnight stay in Lancaster PA which is Amish country. We have gotten to know a family that come every weekend to the Dutch Wagon where they have there own stand to sell fresh everything. They have invited us to come visit there home in Amish land so we are looking forward to that. Our favorite's from the Dutch Wagon are ice cream (all flavors), homemade pretzels, pretzel dogs, and fresh Turkey for Thanksgiving and Christmas. Does this sound inviting or what.
Oh yeah, I think Jordan will be called to PA or NJ mission. Then we can visit him every week when
P-days come around!
Won't Jordan be leaving on his mission in '08? Than I guess we have a trip to the homeland planned.
Don't forget about the example Jordan is to many other boys I know! My boys think he walks on water (or at least swims really cool in it!) and Ben loves having him as his teacher. Thanks for sharing!
We think Jordan will be called to the North Little Rock Mission!!!!
If Jordan is lucky then he will go to Panama. I can't believe that it is already time for the mission.
